I Choose… Character Development Program Social and emotional learning is an important aspect of our curricula at Sharon Academy. Aiming to support and grow the whole child, our I Choose… Character Development curriculum begins to teach strategies for self-control and emotional self-regulation. The program encourages children to be aware of themselves and others while becoming responsible decision-makers. Educational research has identified the development of “character” as the primary key to student school success. Sharon Academy implements these ten monthly lessons to promote positive attitude and character growth; I Choose: children learn what “choice” means. I Choose to Listen. I Choose to be a Friend. I Choose to be Thankful. I Choose to Share. I Choose to Tell the Truth. I Choose to Care. I Choose to be Happy. I Choose to Stop and Think. I Choose to Love.
