wait list policy

Parents wishing to enroll in Sharon Academy may experience a waiting period prior to enrollment for their child.  To assist parents with a consistent approach to the anticipated timeframe for their child’s waiting period, Sharon Academy has developed the following Waitlist Policy.

  1. Parents wishing to enroll a child at Sharon Academy within a classroom for which no current opening exists, can choose to have their name added to a “Waitlist” that will be maintained for each classroom based upon a first come, first serve basis.  Being on the Waitlist does not guarantee the parent that his or her child will be placed in a particular class but does create a hierarchy of access to future openings in that classroom. Parents will need to have paid the appropriate Waitlist Fee to be placed on the Waitlist.
  2. Upon joining our Waitlist, you may elect to join the Waitlist for one or both of campuses.  The Sharon Road Campus Waitlist and the Wedgewood Campus Waitlist operate independently of each other.  If you are offered a spot from one campus, the spot is only for that location.  Additionally, should you decline to accept a spot that is offered to you, you will move to the bottom of that respective Waitlist.  For example, should you be offered a spot at our Sharon Road Campus, the spot is only offered for the Sharon Road Campus.  If you decline the offered spot at our Sharon Road Campus, you will be moved to the bottom of our Sharon Road Campus’ Waitlist.
    1. Sharon Road Campus: Our Sharon Road Campus has a waitlist with three tiers.
      1. A First Tier Waitlist exists for any teacher or staff position with a child of his or her own.  Accordingly, the First Level Waitlist will take first priority over all other Waitlists.
      2. The Second Tier of the Waitlist is for parents who have a child currently enrolled in one of the classrooms at the Sharon Road Campus and who have completed the appropriate application and Waitlist Fees.  Parents with a child on the Second Tier Waitlist will have a priority over those parents on the Third Tier Waitlist, irrespective of the timing for being placed on the Waitlist.  This will cause the child to be added to a classroom before any First Tier Waitlist child.
      3. The Third Tier on the Waitlist is for parents who are new to Sharon Academy.  The parents on this list will be added to the list in the order their completed application and Waitlist Fees have been received.
    2. Wedgewood Campus: Our Wedgewood Campus has a waitlist with four subgroups.
      1. A First Tier Waitlist exists for any teacher or staff position with a child of his or her own.  Accordingly, the First Tier Waitlist will take first priority over all other Waitlists.
      2. The Second Tier of the Waitlist is for parents who have a child currently enrolled in one of the Wedgewood Campus classrooms and have completed the appropriate application and Waitlist Fees.  Parents with a child on the Second Tier Waitlist will have a priority over those parents on the Third and Fourth Tier Waitlist, irrespective of the timing for being placed on the Waitlist.  This will cause the child to be added to a classroom before any Third and Fourth Tier Waitlist child.
      3. The Third Tier of the Waitlist is for children and parents who live within our designated Wedgewood Community area and have completed the appropriate application and Waitlist Fees.  This designated Wedgewood Community area has been developed by Sharon Academy to support the adjacent Madison Park community and our neighbors who live there.  Parents with a child on the Third Tier Waitlist will have a priority over those parents on the Fourth Tier Waitlist, irrespective of the timing for being placed on the Waitlist, up to 10% of the classroom enrollment in any age level’s classes.  This will enable the child to be added to a classroom before any Fourth Tier Waitlist child if the 10% maximum has not been met at that point.
      4. The Fourth Tier on the Waitlist is for parents who are new to Sharon Academy.  The parents on this list will be added to the list in the order their completed application and Waitlist Fees have been received.
  3. When parents are offered the next available position in their requested classroom from the Waitlist, their child will be enrolled in the classroom when they have completed the necessary deposit and all enrollment forms.  Acceptance of the available position must be completed within three business days.  Parents who choose not to accept the available position in the classroom for which they have been on the Waitlist can choose to be removed from the Waitlist or have their name added to the end of the Waitlist with a written request.  This open position in the classroom will then be offered to the next parent on the Waitlist.
