The North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development is an important resource for our teachers, alongside our curricula. The NC Foundations are sets of goals that our teachers use to plan effective and meaningful lessons. Overall, the NC Foundations is a guide for educators to gain an understanding of necessary skills for school-age success. The NC Foundations are divided into domains or overarching developmental areas. The domains are; Approaches to Play and Learning, Emotional and Social Development, Health and Physical Development, Language Development and Communication, and Cognitive Development. Each area of the lesson plan for your child is guided by a Goal and Developmental Indicator. Our teachers are masterful at ensuring Goals are met and mastered. Areas of potential growth are clearly communicated to parents, while areas of success are communicated and celebrated with families.
